Special Educational Needs (SEND)
Special Educational Needs (SEND) | Holy Trinity Church School
Welcome to the SEND Information Page at Holy Trinity Church School
At Holy Trinity Church School, we are committed to providing an inclusive and supportive environment that caters to the specific needs of all our pupils, including those with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). We adhere strictly to the SEND Code of Practice, ensuring that all our practices are guided by the principles of equality, transparency, and respect for the individual needs of each child. Our goal is to enable every child to achieve their full potential, both academically, emotionally and socially.
Miss West, our SENDCo, plays a pivotal role in coordinating our SEND provisions. With extensive experience and understanding of educational and emotional needs, Miss West works closely with parents, teachers, and external agencies to develop personalised support plans for each child. Our approach ensures that all interventions and strategies are tailored to foster the children's learning and development effectively. Parents are encouraged to contact Miss West directly with any concerns or questions regarding their child's educational needs.
Our whole school approach to learning has a strong focus on creating a bespoke curriculum to make it accessible, fun, nurturing and challenging.
We believe in the power of partnership between parents and the school in supporting children with SEND. Regular meetings, updates, and workshops are part of how we engage with our community. We invite you to be active participants in your child’s education journey, providing insights and feedback that help us refine our approach. Together, we can make a significant difference in the lives of our children; ensuring they thrive in a nurturing and enriching environment.
Our SEND Vision:
To enable all our children with SEND to be independent learners and to be fully integrated into the classroom, working alongside their peers. We will provide targeted resources and support through a Tailored Support Plan that enables them to make progress across all aspects of their spectrum of needs.
Somerset Wellbeing Framework
The Somerset Wellbeing Framework is a whole school approach to wellbeing and mental health. After submitting a vast portfolio of what we do in our school to support wellbeing and mental health, we were really proud that in October 2023 we were awarded for the themes of belonging, positive relationships and healthy lifestyles.
Parent Workshops and Information Sessions
We have and continue to run a number of parent advice and support afternoons, running from 1:30-3pm on Fridays.

Helpful Links and Policies
We use an 'Assess, Plan, Do, Review' (APDR) Process in school and this helps us to decide which children should be placed on the SEND register and to monitor and review those who are. Below is a flowchart which details this process:
Below is our Dyslexia Pathway - this is a flowchart explaining what we do if we suspect a child has dyslexic traits or literacy difficulties:

Some of our Parents Forum group suggested that our policies could be easier for parents and carers to read, so we have produced a 'Simple Guide to SEND' (below)
